A CLOSER LOOK AT Home office

Build the work area around equipment and movement

Measure your monitor, keyboard and working materials before comparing desks. Raised shelves and built-in storage can reduce usable surface depth. Check legroom and the space needed to pull back the chair, open drawers and pass behind the seated position.

For bookcases and office storage, compare shelf limits with the weight of the contents and follow anchoring instructions. Plan power and lighting so cables do not cross the walking route. A desk’s dimensions alone do not guarantee an ergonomic setup for every user.

Follow our small home office layout ideas to sketch a practical corner, and use the lighting guide when comparing controls and color temperature.
